Daps And Sovereign Bloc Build A Mockumentary World For FORVR Mood’s “Not Your Type”

Written, directed and exec produced by Daps through Sovereign Bloc, the four-part micro-series launches around FORVR Mood’s new fine fragrance, with the first two episodes live now and two more to follow next week.

Daps and Sovereign Bloc have written, directed and produced “Not Your Type,” a four-part micro-series for FORVR Mood’s new fine fragrance of the same name.

Created around the launch of Not Your Type, the series places a documentary crew inside the fictional FORVR Mood headquarters as founder Jackie Aina and her team prepare to bring the fragrance into the world. What begins as an inspiring founder story quickly becomes something sharper, messier and funnier: a deadpan office comedy about the absurdity of building something original while everyone around you has a note, an opinion, a strategy deck or a “better” name.

With the first two episodes now live and the remaining two set to roll out next week, “Not Your Type” uses the language of workplace mockumentary to turn a fragrance launch into a piece of brand-owned entertainment. The tone is dry, precise and character-led, with Jackie at the centre: calm, observant, three steps ahead and increasingly done with the chaos unfolding around her.

For Daps, the opportunity was to create something that felt less like a conventional product campaign and more like a world FORVR Mood could own.

“Not Your Type was a chance to build a real piece of IP around the fragrance,” says Daps, Founder of Sovereign Bloc. “FORVR Mood already has such a distinct voice, and Jackie has this incredible ability to be funny, direct and completely herself without overplaying anything. The idea was to let the comedy carry the truth. The office is absurd, but what sits underneath it is very real: a woman building something on her own terms while everyone else tries to make it more palatable.”

The series was designed as four connected episodes, each using a different stage of the fragrance launch to reveal more of the world. The first episode, “The Name,” follows the team as they debate safe, soft and wildly off-brand alternatives before landing back on the title that had been right all along: Not Your Type. The second, “The Nose Knows,” moves into focus group territory, where the fragrance is interpreted by a room of strangers who somehow manage to understand it more clearly than the people paid to analyze it.

The final two episodes continue the rollout next week, moving deeper into campaign development and launch-day pressure while keeping the remaining story points under embargo.

Shot with a docu-style visual language, the series uses handheld camerawork, punch zooms, awkward pauses, workplace glances and talking-head confessionals to create comedy from the gap between how seriously everyone takes their job and how ridiculous the situation becomes. The result is cinematic but deliberately imperfect, intimate in the way real documentary footage feels when something unexpected happens.

The fragrance itself is woven naturally into the world rather than treated as a hard product cutaway. The amber, angular Not Your Type bottle appears on desks, in meeting rooms, in focus groups and in Jackie’s quiet moments away from the noise. Each episode builds toward a small ritual: Jackie steps out of the chaos, reaches for the bottle, sprays and exhales before walking back into it.

“Those moments were important,” adds Daps. “The comedy can be big, but the product story had to stay grounded. We wanted the bottle to feel like part of Jackie’s world, not something dropped into the frame because the ad needed it. The spray moments are the breath. They are the reminder of what the whole thing is really about.”

That balance reflects Sovereign Bloc’s wider approach to brand storytelling: culturally fluent, filmmaker-led and built around the idea that commercial work can be sharper when it behaves more like entertainment. For Sovereign Bloc, “Not Your Type” is another example of the kind of work the company was built to make: distinctive, authored and aware of both the brief and the audience.

Founded by Daps, Sovereign Bloc is a filmmaker-led production company built for directors, artists, brands and agencies looking to create work with point of view, scale and cultural force. The company’s launch positioning, “Built for filmmakers. Not factories is reflected in the series’ approach, which treats FORVR Mood’s fragrance launch not as a product announcement, but as the starting point for a repeatable character-driven universe.

Edited by Matt Maloney, with sound mix by Thomas Jorge Nielsen for No Sushi and color by Dan Edwards, “Not Your Type” brings together a large ensemble cast and a grounded office world that lets the comedy play straight. Nobody winks. Nobody breaks. The joke lives in the confidence of every bad idea.

Episodes 1, 2 and 3 of “Not Your Type” are live now. Episode 4 will be released on the 25th August 2026.
